Pennsylvania Pipeline Replacement Update

September 10, 2019

For Immediate Release, September 10, 2019:  8-inch Water Main Replacement on Pennsylvania Ave. between El Caminito St. & Alabama St.

Crescenta Valley Water District has hired Brkich Construction to replace the existing old water main with new 8-inch diameter water main on the 4700 & 4800 blocks of Pennsylvania Ave, which is between El Caminito St and Alabama St.

Construction is scheduled to begin on September 12, 2019. The contractor will be potholing on Pennsylvania Ave for utility crossings and should begin pipeline construction on September 16, 2019. The construction will be along the existing westerly curb on Pennsylvania Ave. We anticipate the entire pipeline replacement project to be completed by the middle of October 2019.

Brkich Construction will be putting up temporary no parking signs, traffic cones, detour arrows and arrow boards along Pennsylvania Ave. between El Caminito St. and Alabama St. This will allow the contractor’s crew to work in a safe and expeditious manner to complete the project. "Temporary No Parking" signs will be posted a minimum of two (2) days before construction that shows the time limit (i.e. 8 am to 4 pm) for no parking. Residents will be able to park in these areas during off hours if the area is safe.

CVWD's on-site inspector and the contractor will assist you with access into and out of your

driveway.

Please note that if you are CVWD customer, there will be a period of time, usually between 6 to 8 hours, when the water service to your home will be shut down. This will occur when the contractor ties the new water main into the existing water main. CVWD will notify each resident, a minimum of 48 hours before the actual shutdown, with a door hanger that indicates the date and time.

If you are a Glendale Water & Power customer for water service, you water will NOT be shut down during construction.

CVWD is aware that the repairs will create a certain amount of unavoidable public inconvenience. Your cooperation in making this project successful is greatly appreciated. Additional information can be found at Crescenta Valley Water District's website at www.cvwd.com.
