The Crescenta Valley Water District is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, the members of which are elected-at-large by the registered voters within the District. Each Director serves a four-year term which is staggered between two directors and three directors and which commences in successive odd-year elections. The current Board of Directors, their term expiration dates, and their occupations are shown below.
Kathy Ross
Kathleen Ross is a Civil Engineer by degree and a Domestic Engineer by choice. She is raising 3 children with her husband and has lived in the Crescenta Valley since 1982. She is co-owner of a collectible toy store in Burbank with her husband. She received a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in sewage treatment, from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. She has been employed by various firms in the Crescenta Valley area since that time, including JPL. She was appointed to the CVWD Board of Directors in May 2002 and reelected to fill that position in November 2002. She has been elected Board President for the last 3 years.
Judy Tejeda
Judy Tejeda is a long time resident of La Crescenta. Her four children (Lynda, Ken, Steve, and Susan) attended Monte Vista, Rosemont, and Crescenta Valley High School. Director Tejeda served as a volunteer for the Monte Vista PTA and Crescenta-Canada YMCA. Active in the community, Director Tejeda helped form the Crescenta Valley Town Council, and was twice elected Councilwoman to that body previous to her election as Director of the Crescenta Valley Water District. She has served as president of CVWD's Board of Directors. Director Tejeda attended UCLA and CSUN, earning a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Masters degree in school administration. She has taught at Verdugo Hills High School and Mount Gleason Middle School for over 30 years. Mrs. Tejeda is co-founder of R & R Masonry, a commercial building corporation. A supporter of local control of water/sewer services, Judy Tejeda advocates high water control standards, water conservation, community input on water issues, and responsible, conservative CVWD fiscal policies.
Kerry Erickson Kerry Erickson is an engineer and project manager at the California Institute of Technology Jet Propulsion Laboratory where for more than 40 years he has been involved with the U.S. space program. His career has encompassed a broad range of engineering assignments and management responsibilities in the development and operation of satellite systems. Prior to this he was involved in nuclear research with Edgerton, Germeshausen and Grier, Inc. Since 1971 his wife Danette and he have lived in La Crescenta where they raised their three children Deana, Karl and Kraig. He has been active in the community for many years including the Boy Scout program where he continues to serve. His academic history includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Redlands.
Mr. Erickson was elected to the Board of Directors in 2009. He is presently the chairman of the District’s Community Relations and Water Conservation Committee and also serves on the Policy Committee.
James Bodnar
James Bodnar has been a resident of La Crescenta since 2003 continuing a family tradition that started when his grandparents moved to the area in the early 1950's. He was elected to the CVWD Board of Directors in November 2009 and now serves as Board Vice President. James is a senior water resource engineer for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. James has been working in water resource management since 1997. Previously he worked for the California Department of Public Health evaluating the health risks associated with groundwater and soil contamination since 1994. He was also a research associate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1992 and 1993 working on subsurface imaging and environmental remediation. James has experience with imported water supply, managing groundwater storage programs, water transfers, and developing water policy. He is a graduate of Stanford University with a Masters degree in Civil Engineering and California State University Northridge with a Bachelors degree in Engineering. He is also a licensed professional civil engineer and a certified water treatment and distribution operator. James is married and has two daughters. His oldest daughter attends Mountain Avenue Elementary.
Ken Putnam Ken has been a resident of the Foothills for over 40 years, first in Tujunga and now in La Crescenta. He is a professional civil engineer licensed by the State of California. He is retired from the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, having served as a Division Head more than 20 years over several Divisions including the Waterworks Districts. He has also served as City Engineer and Director of Public Works for several cities. Professionally today he provides civil engineering services to municipalities specializing in the operation of water and sewer systems.
While raising his family of 3 daughters he served as the Parents Chairman of the Crescenta Canada YMCA Swim Team for over 10 years and a Coach of Girls Softball in the Crescenta Sports Association for over 8 years.
Ken is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He brings an extensive background and experience in the operation of water systems to his position as a Director on the Board of the Crescenta Valley Water District.
